meandro

Water, an elemental force, serves as the sculptor of landscapes, etching its passage through the earth, leaving behind a tapestry of layered memories in the form of riverbanks. Meandro, a site-specific time-based installation, encapsulates the essence of this dynamic relationship.

My fascination with water's transformative power and its ability to shape the world led me to Mompos. Here, the river not only built the town but also froze it in time, preserving its colonial architecture and charm. This installation is an homage to the intrinsic power of the river, a celebration of its ability to carve and shape the very foundations of our existence.

The corresponding series of photographs and cyanotypes serve as another means of capturing fleeting moments, freezing them in time much like the river does to Mompos. However instead of water, each image is a visual record of light and its interplay with the subjects, a testament to the ephemeral nature of existence and the enduring imprints left by the passage of time.

My journey to Mompos felt like a voyage to another world, and once here, the river and the town itself transported me to a different time and space. The installation is not just an artistic creation but a remembrance—a reflection of the profound impact this journey had on me and a nod to the town's ability to serve as a bridge between the past and the present.

Meandro invites viewers to contemplate the ever-shifting dance between water and earth, to reflect on the power of nature to shape our surroundings and leave behind indelible imprints on the canvas of our memories. Through these works, I hope to evoke a sense of awe for the forces that shape our world and elicit contemplation on the delicate balance between permanence and transience.
